Joe O'Donnell M.V.B., M.R.C.V.S.
Joe qualified in Dublin in 1983. After graduation he worked for a number of years in mixed practice in Ballina and Derry. Following this he spent a year in a small animal hospital in Wales. He joined Glenina Veterinary Clinic in 1986. Joe has a special interest in Ophthalmology, Urogenital surgery and Exotic pets. He has a lifelong association with Galway animal welfare groups.
Philip McManus M.V.B., M.R.C.V.S.
Philip qualified in Dublin in 1983. He worked in mixed practices in Longford, Derry and Portadown. He also spent a year in a small animal practice in Belfast. Philip joined Joe O' Donnell in Galway in 1992. Philip specialises in small animal orthopaedics, theriogeniology and homeopathy. He recently opened the First Equine hospital and AI centre in the west at Rockmount, Claregalway.
Karl Darcy M.V.B.
Karl qualified in 2000 from UCD with honours. He worked for a short time in Sweden and Sligo before joining the Glenina team in 2002. Karl became a practice partner in 2008. He has a particular interest in Feline Medicine.
Colm McGovern M.V.B.
Colm qualified from University College Dublin in 2004 with an honours degree. Colm worked in mixed practice for 2 years in County Leitrim, followed by six months as a racecourse vet in Melbourne, Australia. Colm has been a member of the Glenina team since 2006 and has a particular interest in orthopaedic surgery. Colm joined as a practice partner in 2011.
Rita Carlone D.V.M.
Rita qualified in 2003 from Bologna Veterinary University, Italy. After graduation Rita worked in a small animal critical care unit in her home town Bologna. She worked in South Africa and Australia and from there moved to join the Glenina Team in 2007. Her interests include small animal nutrition, equine reproduction and lameness.
Fiona Linnane R.V.N.
Fiona qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1998 through the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. She spent a year in San Francisco working in a small animal hospital before joining Glenina vets in 2000. As we are an approved training centre for veterinary nurses, Fiona's duties also involve assessment of the numerous students that come to the clinic.
Gina Burke R.V.N.
Gina completed her veterinary nursing degree in Athlone IT in 2007 and an honours degree in agricultural science through Athlone IT in 2008; she joined the Glenina team shortly after. She has a keen interest in small animal dental health care and equine nursing.
Audrey Donoghue Dip V.N. R.V.N
Audrey joined Glenina Vets in 2006. During her time with us, she has completed the 3 year UCD Diploma in Veterinary Nursing course which she graduated from in 2011. Audrey is a registered Veterinary Nurse with the Veterinary council of Ireland. She has a keen interest in horses and holds a FETAC cert in Equine Nursing.
Coming from a farming background Roisin joined us in 2003. She worked previously in a Pharmacy. She has a keen interest in Pedigree Breeding. In addition to large animal TB & brucellosis queries, Roisin looks after merchandise and stock control for the practice along with working on reception and taking care of clients.
Caroline O' Toole
Caroline has worked in Glenina since 2002.In addition to scheduling appointments and reception duties, Caroline deals with administration and food merchandise for the practice. She is a great lover of animals and has a rescue dog named Holly..
